We are a team inspired by the values and virtues of the main character in the universal legend “Robinson Crusoe”, and we have fathered an enterprise in incomparable places, with the aim of offering many people the experience of a “Return to Freedom”.

“The Life and Surprising Adventures of Robinson Crusoe of York, Mariner: Who Lived Eight and Twenty Years, All Alone in an Un-Inhabited Island”. Such is the original title of the novel written by Daniel Defoe in 1719, which has been published in almost every language of the globe, captivating people of all cultures for more than three centuries.
It is a fascinating story of an educated, ingenious man, an entrepreneur and an adventurer. The story has been transformed into a universal legend - and inspired dozens of movies – and today is absolutely current in its message and meaning for our over-accelerated modern world today.

The legend tells the life-story of a cultured, adventurous English trader who undertakes risky businesses in search of an easy fortune. During a voyage in a vessel with a 14-man crew, he is shipwrecked and finds himself the sole survivor on an uninhabited island. There he stays alone for 23 years, in an intimate, life-changing contact with nature. At the end of that time a tribe of cannibals lands, bringing a savage intended for sacrifice. Robinson Crusoe rescues him, gives him the name “Friday” and keeps him at his side for a further 5 years. His tenacity and ingenuity allow him to survive, achieving greater happiness and freedom than ever before. He respects the life present in creation and finds God through reading a Bible salvaged from the wreck.

Amid the still unexplored nature of Deep Patagonia you will be able to make fresh contact with the deepest roots of your being and recover your original freedom.
Robinson Crusoe is our mother-company where we were fired by passion for the spirit of this universal legend. After several exploratory journeys to Deep Patagonia, we discovered the force of its indescribable beauty and the diversity of its remote landscapes, evoking the freedom we have lost. Convinced that the world should reach and see this marvellous place, we began this undertaking and took over another company, Hielo Sur, set up in 1999 when the Austral Way (the very end of the Pan-American Highway) reached its southernmost point, the little village of Villa O’Higgins, located beside Glacier Lake (O’Higgins Lake). In January 2005, our passenger vessel Quetru made its first voyage to the Great Glacier and today we are playing an important role in the development of the Patagonian Corridor, linking the Chilean Austral Way with the localities of El Chaltén and El Calafate in Argentina. Further south one can re-enter Chile to visit the “Torres del Paine” (Paine Peaks) and then the city of Punta Arenas, facing the “Estrecho de Magallanes” (Magellan Strait) and “Tierra del Fuego” (Land of Fire). In the course of 2010 we built our first Lodge in Villa O’Higgins, which we called “Robinson Crusoe Deep Patagonia””. It is the only one of its kind in the area, comfortable and with attractive features for visitors. To allow us to provide a good transport service we also have a bus for our passengers. We shall continue growing year by year, adding services and reaching out to new, remote places around Glacier Lake in Deep Patagonia.
