Season: From November to March (Navigation Season).
Duration: 9 days at least.
Requirements: Saludable fitness. (Able to walk 2.5 hours)
Minimum Age: Not suitable for children under 12 years.
Nº of partícipants: Individual or group. (4 people ideal to optimize car leasing) – maximum 10 people due to accommodation capacity at Candelario Mancilla. Camping is also an alternative.
Departures from El Chaltén: 1 day before the L/M Quetru navigation on Lake O’Higgins. ( see frequencies ).
Description: It´s an interesting trip that combines the best of both countries and the Patagonia. From Balmaceda Airport, travelling along the Carretera Austral, visiting Lake General Carrera and the Marble Cathedrals, Baker River, Caleta Tortel and Villa O’Higgins; then visiting the Great Glacier O’Higgins and be one of the first to have the opportunity to make the Lakes crossing - O’Higgins – Lago del Desierto, through the Patagonian Andes, to El Chaltén at the feet of Mount Fitz Roy. The route continues to the city of El Calafate to finally cross the border to Torres del Paine National Park or to Punta Arenas airport.
This circuit requires a beautiful and easy walk of 5 km., (that anyone, who has a normal physical condition, can do) to cross from the border to Lago del Desierto. The rest of the journey is on boats or vehicles and settlers offer luggage transfer services on the route between the two lakes ( A bag or backpack of 20Kg. per person).

Dont forget immigration´s documents.
Recommendations: Bring juices and snacks ( you can usually get water from the streams). This allows to flextime. If possible, always leave a gap day for unforeseen incidents. Have advance bookings. Carry Deep Patagonia map, sold in supermarket El Chalten and Robinson Crusoe office in Villa O'Higgins. Don´t forget to wear appropriate clothing (see “Recommended Clothing at FAQ”).
